"I was harassed by Crunch Gym staff and management did nothing."
I recently experienced an incredibly uncomfortable situation with a front desk staff member at a Crunch Gym location in New York City, and management's dismissive response left me feeling completely unsupported.
It all started when this male employee seemingly looked at my Spanish name on a class sign-up sheet and used it to initiate overly intense conversations with me in Spanish. Over a few weeks, his behavior escalated to a point where he would loudly exclaim how I "made his day" just by arriving, which gave me immense anxiety before my workouts. The final straw happened when I was leaving the gym and he began repeatedly blowing kisses at me. When I firmly confronted him and told him not to do that, he casually asked me "why?" and told me not to get angry.
Filing a complaint was incredibly difficult, and when the manager finally responded, the email was entirely vague, stating only that "necessary measures" were taken but offering zero specifics or real accountability. When I decided to cancel my membership out of safety concerns, their corporate response was completely tone-deaf instead of addressing the harassment, they simply tried to pitch me on upgrading to their other premium Manhattan locations. I am sharing this story to leave a historical record of this individual's behavior and to encourage other women to trust their intuition and raise their voices, because staying silent only helps the people who feel comfortable harassing others.
